A JuJu Smith-Schuster homecoming would benefit both sides

JuJu Smith-Schuster found what he was looking for this past season after departing Pittsburgh, a chance to prove himself worthy of a long-term deal and a Super Bowl ring. The Super Bowl 57 champ managed to stay relatively healthy this season and proved that he is still capable of similar numbers to his first few seasons in the league.

While it is not the most likely outcome, many Steelers fans would be thrilled to see JuJu back in the Burgh. Smith-Schuster was a pivotal part of the Chiefs' Super Bowl run this year catching 78 passes for 933 yards, his most since 2018, along with three touchdowns, via ESPN stats. JuJu seems to have finally found a clear-cut role in the NFL as a reliable slot receiver with strong hands. With Smith-Schuster back in the Black and Gold, Kenny Pickett would have his go-to-guy on third downs just as Ben Roethlisberger once did.

JuJu is ready for a multi-year contract at this point in his career, and deservedly so. He is still just 26 years old and should be entering the prime of his career. If Kansas City does not choose to retain the former second-round pick from 2017, I would like to see the Steelers attempt a possible reunion. JuJu Smith-Schuster has never been shy about his love for the city of Pittsburgh as well as its fans. After a not-so-pretty ending last year, both sides have the chance to make things right and reap the benefits over the next few years.
