Steelers mock draft round 3: Te'Vondre Sweat, NT

The Steelers drafted Keeannu Benton as their new NT but there’s not much depth after him. Also, Benton has the game to move outside whenever Cam Heyward retires. Sweat is a prototypical, massive, space-eating, run-stuffing Nose Tackle. A former high school basketball player, he also shows surprising athleticism and can play all along the D-Line.

Sweat excels against the run. He can clog up the middle and stack and shed blockers. He gets penetration, rocking his blocker with his upper body strength and casting them aside with his strong hands.

Sweat is also developing as a pass rusher and routinely commands double teams. He’s the type of player who can draw blockers' attention and free up ILBs for inside blitzes. Left one on one, he can be an impressive bull rusher.

Sweat had 30 tackles with 2.5 for a loss and 4 pass deflections in 2022. Though he had no sacks he had 18 QB hurries and 3 QB hits. He has 3 sacks on his career, so far. He garnered a 79.5 overall grade from PFF with 80.5 against the run and 72.5 pass rushing. Sweat could see the field a lot as a situational run stuffer as he works to become the starter at Nose Tackle.
