After what promises to be a thoroughly exciting Day 2 of the NFL Draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Day 3 is sure to be much more relaxed. The final day of the draft will open with the fourth round and run through the compensatory seventh round. After a player is dubbed Mr. Irrelivant with the final selection, the 2023 NFL Draft will come to a close.
Pittsburgh does not possess their original fifth, sixth, or seventh-round picks this year. However, they still have some selections to work with on Day 3. The question becomes whether or not they will find any players who can stick on the roster.
The Steelers have had success on Day 3 picks in the past, but they are typically few and far between. Obviously, Antonio Brown (sixth round) is one of the most notable late-round selections of all time, but it's rare to find a generational talent this late.
In more recent years, the Steelers have found players like Kevin Dotson, Josh Dobbs, and Benny Snell early on Day 3. Martavis Bryant was a fourth-round success story from the 2014 draft before suspensions derailed his career.
Overall, the results on the final day of the draft haven't been very kind to the Steelers in recent years, and most players they have drafted late have failed to stick around. Here's a look at every pick the Pittsburgh Steelers have on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft.
What picks do Steelers have on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft?
The Pittsburgh Steelers have some of their original Day 3 capital missing from trades dating back to the 2022 season. This isn't an ideal situation, but it doesn't mean that Omar Khan can't find a few players who could stick on the roster. Here's every Day 3 pick Pittsburgh has on Saturday:
- Round 4, pick 120 overall
- Round 7, pick 241 overall (via trade with Minnesota)
- Round 7, pick 251 overall (via trade with Los Angeles)
This is incredibly thin Day 3 capital compared to what most teams have. The good news is that the Steelers have some premium picks on the first two days that could help reshape their roster.
On Day 3, it's a game of chance, and Pittsburgh is just hoping to find players who can stick around on their roster and eventually carve out a role. If that can happen, Khan and his team can still make this day successful.
Obviously, the 120th overall pick still holds some relatively strong value, and it's possible that the Steelers could find a future starter with this selection. Unfortunately, the two seventh-rounders come toward the tail-end of the draft, and the players drafted won't stand a very good shot of making the final roster in year one.
