What time does Round 2 start of the NFL Draft?
By Tommy Jaggi
Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft proved to be an exciting thrill ride for fans of most NFL teams. There were a few surprise picks and unpredictable selections that nobody saw coming.
While the first round of the NFL Draft gets all the buzz, Day 2 is where the excitement lies for hardcore football fans. Though 32 of the best players are already off the board, there is still phenomenal talent and future NFL stars ripe for the picking.
Today's action will be more fast-paced than what we witnessed on Day 1 of the draft as the time drops from 10 minutes to just 7 minutes for teams to make their selections. The best part is that we get double the fun, as most teams have at least two selections today.
We have witnessed firsthand how important a strong Day 2 of the NFL Draft can be to reshape an NFL franchise. Just last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers snagged players like CB Joey Porter Jr., DL Keeanu Benton, and TE Darnell Washington on Day 2.
So what time does Round 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft start and how can you be sure to catch the action?
When will Day 2 of the NFL Draft start?
Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft will kick off with the 33rd overall pick in Round 2. Coverage will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time with the first team on the clock in the second round.
Today's pre-draft coverage begins at 1:00 p.m. ET with NFL Draft Kickoff on NFL Network, followed by NFL Draft Countdown at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
How to watch Day 2 of the NFL Draft
Fans can catch Rounds 2 and 3 of the NFL Draft on ABC, NFL Network, or ESPN2. Though ESPN aired Day 1 of the draft on Thursday, it will not broadcast the draft on Day 2.
For those hoping to stream Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, you can do so with a subscription to YouTubeTV or Hulu+, but we recommend a seven-day free trial from FuboTV.
How long is Day 2 of the NFL Draft?
Live NFL Draft coverage is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET and end at 11:00 p.m. on NFL Network (11:30 p.m. on ABC).
Each team gets 7 minutes to make their selection in Round 2 and just 5 minutes on the clock for each pick in Round 3. Factoring compensatory third-round picks, this comes to a total possible run time of 6 hours and 49 minutes.
However, the clock will move much faster than this, as teams will not use the full 7 minutes in Round 2 or 5 minutes in Round 3 to make their picks. Fans planning to watch Day 2 of the NFL Draft should plan for a run time of roughly 4 hours from 7:00 p.m. to approximately 11:00 p.m.
