The 2023 NFL season is on the horizon. The first game begins on September 7th as the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, play host to the Detroit Lions. This game will take place on Thursday night while most other NFL teams will kick off their first game on Sunday, September 10th.

Over the next several months, avid football fans will get caught up in a whirlwind of exciting NFL matchups. All the while, teams will have their eye on the prize as they hope their record will be good enough to enter the postseason. So when does the NFL regular season wrap up?

When does the 2023 NFL season end?

Ironically, the 2023 NFL season doesn't actually end in 2023; it ends shortly after the new year in 2024. Week 18 of the NFL season will take place on January 7th. We don't know exactly when these games will take place until the time approaches. The scheduling in the final week will come down to placing teams with playoff implications in the most important slots.

Following the Week of January 7th (which is the first Sunday of the new year), the NFL will immediately jump into the Wild Card round of the playoffs the following week, where all but two teams (the top seed from each conference) will square off in the first round of the postseason.

When is the Super Bowl?

Though we may not have the exact dates that games will be played in the final week of the regular season, we do have a date for the Super Bowl. The biggest game on turf will be played on February 11th, 2024. This means that the entire postseason, as well as the Pro Bowl Games, will take place in the month leading up to the Super Bowl.

Football fans have a lot to look forward to until then. It's important to know when the NFL regular season wraps up, as 14 lucky teams will be heading to the playoffs for a shot at the Super Bowl.
