The NFL Draft is the most exciting offseason event for football fans. While millions will casually tune in from time to time, hardcore fans will be glued to their sofas for this thrilling three-day event. The Pittsburgh Steelers hold seven selections in the 2024 NFL Draft, and a strong haul could help reshape their franchise.
The first round of the NFL Draft always draws the biggest crowd, as the best players in the nation are quickly swooped up early in the draft. However, Day 2 offers just as much excitement with double the amount of selections taking place.
When the first round concludes, it's always hard for football fans to get a good night's sleep with the thrill of their top pick still fresh and Day 2 of the draft on the horizon. Here's everything you need to know.
When does Round 2 of the NFL Draft start?
The second round of the 2024 NFL Draft will begin on April 26th at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. This is an hour earlier than the start time of the first round (which is one day earlier on April 25th). Pre-draft coverage will take place before Day 2 of the draft opens with the 33rd pick on the clock.
How many picks do Steelers have on Day 2 of the NFL Draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have three total selections on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft: a second-round pick (51 overall), and two third-round picks (84 overall and 98 overall). These picks can be traded during the draft.
How much time do NFL teams get to make their picks on Day 2?
In the first round, every team is allowed 10 minutes to make their selection. In Round 2, that time is cut down to just 7 minutes, per Football Operations. NFL teams will have only 5 minutes to make their pick in Round 3.
How long is Day 2 of the NFL Draft?
While the start time is set for 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time, there is no exact time frame in which the final selection will be made on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.
Doing some simple math, Round 2 could take up to 224 minutes if every team uses all 7 minutes. Round 3 could take up to 185 minutes. This means the maximum length of Day 2 of the NFL Draft could stretch 409 minutes, or 6 hours and 49 minutes.
Not every team is going to use all of their time on the clock to make their selections, and the estimated time to complete Day 2 of the NFL Draft is 4-6 hours.
