The Pittsburgh Steelers hold a reverence for their uniforms. Little has changed for the Steelers over the past five decades. But the same can't be said for most of the other teams in the NFL. This week, Pittsburgh gets its first look at a brand-new uniform against the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos made some long-overdue tweaks to their uniform set this offseason. The Steelers had marginal success against Denver's previous outfit (6-8 vs. Denver since 1997), so they can start a new trend with a win today.
The Broncos' new look features a slight change to the number font, nods to the Rocky Mountains on the shoulders, and a drastic change in the pant stripes. So far, NFL fans have only gotten an in-game look at the new white jersey and it appears the wait to see the Midnight Navy or Sunset Orange jerseys will extend another week.
Official Jersey Announcements For Today's Game
The Denver Broncos announced in August their entire jersey schedule which indicated they would wear their white jerseys in all three preseason games and the first two weeks of the regular season. It's unclear, however, which pants the Broncos will be wearing for their home opener.
In one post on 'X' on Saturday, the Broncos shared a graphic with two players wearing two different color pants.
A Saturday post displayed guard Quinn Meinerz in all white.
Late Saturday night, even Bronco fans aren't sure which combination the team will use in its first home game. Considering the Steelers wear gold pants every time they take the field, hopefully, the Broncos don't opt for the orange pants.
The Steelers, on the other hand, did clearly announce they would be wearing their standard black home uniforms on the road, as expected.
Luckily for the Steelers, wearing black on the road in Colorado won't be the hindrance it would be in a state such as Florida. Of course, that's not to say the Broncos don't have an environmental advantage anyway. Thankfully, uniform selection doesn't mean much against the altitude of the Mile High City.
Week 2 marks the first look at the 2024 Steelers in the black jerseys, even before Pittsburgh's own home opener.
