Russell Wilson revitalizing slumping Steelers offense in win over Bengals
The Steelers secured a crucial bounce-back victory after a tough loss to the Browns last week. Coming off a couple of weeks where the offense struggled to find any consistency, we finally saw the Steelers offense come alive in a thrilling shootout against the Bengals, winning 44-38.
From the play calling to every player on the offense stepping up and contributing, the team showed their ability to score in a variety of ways.
The offense was clicking on all cylinders, with big plays from the run game, explosive passes, and timely drives that kept the Bengals on their heels. While there were standout individual performances across the board, one Steeler, in particular, had an unforgettable game, delivering one of the best performances of his career and truly standing out from the rest.
Steelers' Player of the game: QB Russell Wilson
After a two-week offensive slump, the Steelers came alive against a struggling Bengals defense, posting an impressive 37 points on offense and racking up 520 total yards. Russell Wilson had one of his best performances of the season, as well as one of the best games of his career.
Despite some back-and-forth in the first half, Wilson was able to respond each time, finishing the game with 414 passing yards on 29 of 38 attempts, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. He showed his versatility, distributing the ball well—connecting with running backs on short passes, exploiting the middle of the field, and executing on intermediate throws.
If the Steelers want to make a serious playoff push, they’ll need to continue this level of offensive production against tougher defenses. It’s clear that when Wilson and the offense are clicking, they can be a dangerous team in the playoffs.
The Steelers will be looking to carry this momentum into their next matchup, as they seek revenge against the Browns after their tough loss a few weeks ago.
