The Saints have been one of the teams rumored to be in the market for an early-round quarterback. That has been the case since the news broke that Derek Carr is dealing with a shoulder injury that could threaten his 2025 season.
But despite the quarterback need, the Saints did not take a quarterback with their first pick. And that means that Cam Ward (Titans) is the only quarterback to come off the board inside the first nine picks. Instead, they go with Kelvin Banks, the offensive tackle from Texas. The Saints declined the fifth-year option on Trevor Penning this week and Banks can now be their left tackle of the future.
Shedeur Sanders Still Available For Pittsburgh Steelers
Shedeur Sanders has been a rumored option for the Saints, but he is still available should the Steelers want to select a quarterback in Round 1. And with many of the teams in the 10-20 range not needing a quarterback, it sure seems like he is destined to be available when the Steelers are on the clock.
Will Sanders be the pick for the Steelers at No. 21? That is yet to be known, but we know that he had a pre-draft visit with the Steelers and their a clear need. But how do they value him compared to the other top quarterbacks in the draft? We are about to find out very soon now that Sanders has made it to pick No. 10 and beyond.
It also means that Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, and Tyler Shough are all on the board, and there is a great chance that no other quarterback is picked before the Steelers are on the clock. Pittsburgh has a clear quarterback need with only Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson on the roster. And we are about to find out just how much (or how little) the Steelers like this quarterback class.
