Steelers 2025 mock draft after Week 9: Pittsburgh uses trade to add talent
Not much has changed for the Steelers during their bye week. They didn't get much help in terms of the Ravens or Bengals losing during their time away from football. With that being said, Pittsburgh is still in great shape as they get ready for a dreadful final nine weeks to close out their regular season. Their draft selection with fluctuate from week to week.
Despite being one of the better teams in the AFC, the black and gold have plenty of needs they would love to fill in the upcoming NFL Draft. There are plenty of things that could change between now and when the draft comes around as free agency and trades could alter course. The Steelers have some obvious needs going into next offseason, and Pittsburgh will try to fill those spots through the draft.
Steelers have a trade to announce to kick off the mock draft
We have a trade to announce to kick off the Steelers mock draft. They move back four spots with Detroit and get a nice haul in return. They exchange the Lion's second-round pick for their third-round choice. Pittsburgh also receives the Lion's fourth-round pick in this draft. Pretty good haul for the black and gold as they secure another second-round selection in this deal.
Steelers mock draft round 1: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State
With question marks surrounding Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones moving forward, it might be smart for the Steelers to continue their offensive line investment. They land with Josh Simmons out of Ohio State here. He started his career at San Diego State before transferring to Ohio State. He has mostly played left tackle with the Buckeyes, and he is someone who could develop as a swing tackle to start his career.
Steelers mock draft round 2: Antwane Wells Jr., WR, Ole Miss
He has worked his way from James Madison to South Carolina, and now at Ole Miss. he is a hard worker and has been able to consistently produce at every level of college football. He missed most of the season last year, and that forced him to return to college football. The Steelers get someone who is explosive and has found ways to remain consistent against different levels of competition.
Steelers mock draft round 2: Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State
He might have slipped some in this mock draft, but Pittsburgh is jumping with joy by adding Tyleik Williams. They need to invest more quality youth into the defensive trenches, and they do that with this selection. His massive stature is something NFL teams are going to love throughout the pre-draft process. Williams needs to show more as a pass rusher, but he is a promising prospect.
Steelers mock draft round 4: Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas
Not everything has gone according to plan for Quinn Ewers this season. Many thought he could be a top quarterback, but injuries and bad performances in big moments have sunk his draft stock recently. Ewers has plenty of time to turn his draft hopes around, but he needs to start immediately. The Steelers get a high-ceiling prospect who can develop behind someone like Russell Wilson.
Steelers mock draft round 4: Jason Marshall Jr., CB, Florida
When his final measurements come in, it wouldn't surprise anyone if he has something similar to Joey Porter Jr. Jason Marshall Jr. might have played on some bad Florida teams, but it wasn't for his lack of effort. Marshall has been one of the better cornerbacks in the SEC, but his team hasn't helped his draft stock much. He is a terrific option to bring along slowly to play opposite of Porter at some point.
Steelers mock draft round 5: Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, Penn State
It might surprise some with Dani Dennis-Sutton going at this point in the mock draft, but it shouldn't. He has proven to be a solid pass rusher at Penn State, but he is unreliable against the run. He has looked foolish at times trying to make a play against the run this season. The Steelers take him here as they hope to turn his struggles as a run defender into a well-rounded edge rusher at the next level.
Steelers mock draft round 5: Nicholas Singleton, RB, Penn State
Another great value pick by the Steelers here as they select another Penn State product. Nicholas Singleton has been the star running back at Penn State even though he ran out of a two-back system. He is the more explosive runner out of the two, and Pittsburgh needs that on offense. They have shown quicker backs have produced more success within their offensive scheme.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Tony Grimes, CB, UNLV
They took Marshall earlier in this mock draft, but they double-dip by taking Tony Grimes. Mike Tomlin will love that he hails from the Virginia Beach area. Grimes has better size than Marshall does, but his level of competition will leave pause. He started off his career at North Carolina before going to Texas A&M where he suffered a season-long injury. He has been terrific since going to UNLV to recuperate.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Beaux Collins, WR, Notre Dame
He started off his career at Clemson before moving to Notre Dame this past year. Beaux Collins has terrific size as an outside receiver, but his lack of speed could be an issue at the next level. The Steelers take him here as Collins could be a solid contributor on special teams. Pittsburgh has plenty of needs on their roster, and taking an extra receiver to close out the mock draft is a safe bet.
