The Pittsburgh Steelers don't play until Monday night when they welcome in the suddenly red-hot Miami Dolphins to Acrisure Stadium but fans might have been a tad concerned about whether or not D.K. Metcalf would be available for that game or not.

After putting together one of the best performances of his Steelers career, Metcalf unfortunately had to check into a Baltimore-area hospital following the Steelers' win over their division rival due to some stomach pain. While speaking to the media on Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin allowed fans to breathe a sigh of relief with his update on Metcalf's condition.

“He’s moving in the right direction,” Tomlin said. “I don’t think it’s gonna jeopardize his availability at all, but it certainly may jeopardize his availability at the early portions of the week from a practice standpoint. But thankfully, he’s fine. I’m appreciative of our medical staff and how quickly they acted in making sure that he was safe and taking care of him post-game.”

Mike Tomlin says D.K. Metcalf should be good to go for Week 15 vs. Dolphins

This is obviously excellent news. Most importantly, Metcalf is doing okay after the hospital scare. On a less-important but football-related note, Metcalf's presence on this offense is crucial. As mentioned above, he's coming off an electric performance, tallying seven grabs for 148 yards and averaging 21.1 yards per catch. It was quite the outing from Metcalf and it was clear the Ravens secondary had no answer against him.

That was the kind of performance the Steelers were hoping to consistently get from Metcalf when they traded for him so hopefully that's only the beginning down the stretch here. The most important thing is that he's healthy though.

With the win over Baltimore on Sunday, the Steelers hopped into the driver's seat of the AFC North but they're not out of the woods yet. They close out their 2025 season at home against the Dolphins, on the road against the Lions, in Cleveland against the Browns, and finishing the year in Acrisure Stadium for a date with the Ravens. That Week 18 game could determine who wins the AFC North and gets a home playoff game if both teams continue to eb and flow in the final month of the season.
