Winning isn't easy in the NFL, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have found a way to get to a 6-2 record at their bye week. They have seen weeks where they hold favorable predictions going into games where many experts pick them to win, and others where the opposite happens. This team has clear flaws that continue to plague them, but they have still found ways to overcome those issues.

For the most part, Pittsburgh's football team has done enough good to emerge with victories. There have been obvious moments where they have gotten in their own way and forced games to get much closer than many anticipated. It might not have been pretty, but the Steelers have shown an ability to get better leading up to their bye week. They need that trend to continue the rest of the season.

Following their bye week, don't be shocked if the Black and Gold have predictions that go against their favor.

They have a brutal second half of their schedule ahead, despite injuries around the league starting to alter that perception to a certain degree. This won't be an easy task for the Steelers to thrive in, but if they truly are a contender like they try to portray, then they need to overcome the odds and win some meaningful games the rest of the way.

Still Curtain contributors predict a clear path to a winning season

"The Steelers hit their bye at 6-2, with a defense allowing just 18 points per game, giving them a pretty sturdy floor even when the offense gets clunky. The remaining schedule has some real landmines, including Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and two games with Baltimore, so a 5-4 finish down the stretch feels about right." - Allison Koehler (Steelers record prediction:11-6)

"Before the season, most fans believed another 10-win season was attainable. But the Steelers are running the football and stopping the run like nobody's business. Meanwhile, they were handed an unwarranted gift with the Ravens' quarterback injuries, and the back half of their schedule suddenly doesn't look so daunting. This team not only has playoff aspirations, but at this rate, they could even find themselves in the hunt for the top seed in the AFC." - Tommy Jaggi (Steelers record prediction: 12-5)

"The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the bye week in full control of the AFC NORTH. And that’s exactly where I expect them to finish the campaign. A difficult stretch against Denver, Houston & Jacksonville will test McCarthy’s squad. But I believe with a few players returning from
Injury and motivation to clinch a playoff berth will be enough for Pittsburgh to finish the 2026 campaign strong." - Loyal Ricks Jr. (Steelers record prediction: 13-4)

"While the Steelers looked good heading into the bye week, I think they come out resting on their laurels and lose the next two straight (they always lose in Philly). They get back on track against the Broncos and Texans before losing to the Jaguars (a truly good team can beat this Steelers team right now). They split with the Ravens and beat the Panthers and Titans." - Andrew Falce (Steelers record prediction: 10-7)

Final prediction has Steelers holding off a tough schedule down the stretch

Steelers record prediction: 11-6

This could always change, but looking at the Steelers' upcoming opponents, there are three games that will define who this team is. Their battles against the Bengals, Broncos, and Jaguars will prove whether the Steelers are contenders or pretenders. All three of those clubs are playoff-caliber opponents, and beating the Bengals coming off the bye week would put Pittsburgh in command of the AFC North.

All of that being said, the Black and Gold still have some tough outings for the rest of the season, despite some foes falling apart like the Eagles, Ravens, and Panthers. Don't be shocked if the Steelers have a setback game or two in some of those battles where many pick them to win. Predictions could also change if a massive injury setback hits the Steelers this season.

For the most part, this club has done a nice job of winning the games they were expected to.

That being said, this record prediction for the rest of the Steelers' season has them beating the Eagles, Broncos, Panthers, Titans, and the Ravens when they play in Pittsburgh. That gets this team to 11 wins for the year. That should set them up not only for a playoff spot, but potentially winning the division.

With those wins in mind, that means they would lose against the Bengals after the bye week, their final game of the season against the Ravens, against the Jaguars, and a surprise loss versus Houston. Two of those three are playoff-caliber opponents, and the Texans could be in the fight for a playoff spot at that point. The idea is that the Steelers will rest their starters against Baltimore in the finale.
