Some big-time free agents have been floated to join the Steelers when free agency opens. That is all hearsay for now, as no team can speak to any pending free agents until the legal tampering period starts on March 10 at noon. Until then, any "rumors" circulating the club having interest during free agency could turn into a failed outcome.
Steelers Nation would love the team to sign guys like Tee Higgins or other receivers once the market starts. He might price himself out of Pittsburgh, but there will be other capable receivers to upgrade their offense. Other than finding an upgrade at the receiver position, different spots on the roster could use help.
These free agents might not be getting attention, but the Steelers should have interest.
Kristian Fulton, CB, LA Chargers
With Donte Jackson preparing to hit free agency, the Steelers must find some depth at cornerback. They seem comfortable with Cory Trice as a starter but need competition for him.
Kristian Fulton is someone flying under the radar. He is only 26 years old, which the Steelers like in their free-agent targets. He also provides a ton of starting experience during his five seasons in the NFL. Pittsburgh would be wise to sign this veteran player. He could stick with the club and push for a starting spot.
One of the best things about this target in free agency could be his contract. He's projected to make under three and a half million bucks per season on a two-year deal. It would be terrific value if the Steelers decided to sign Fulton. He might not be a star player, but he is a young cornerback who can provide depth and push others at starting spots.
Keenan Allen, WR, Chicago Bears
It's uncommon for Pittsburgh to sign free agents over 30, but it has happened before. The Black and Gold need a contingency plan if they can't sign a top-tier receiver. They must pivot if they can't land Higgins, Amari Cooper, or Chris Godwin. A veteran receiver like Keenan Allen could be someone who helps the Steelers move in the right direction.
He isn't the same playmaker that he once was with the Chargers. Allen is starting to have Father Time creep up. He's projected to make over 11 million bucks on a new two-year agreement. He probably won't get you a 1,000-yard campaign anymore, but he could be a nice addition. Allen would provide experience and leadership to a young receiving core.

Joseph Noteboom, OT, LA Rams
While considering positions of need, many might not see the offensive line as one. In truth, they need to add some depth at least. Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu will be your unproven starters at left and right tackle. The interior of the offensive line has their starters in place, but the depth behind them is scarce. Don't be shocked if the Steelers attempt to sign and draft some linemen.
Joseph Noteboom could be a steal for Pittsburgh as a starter or depth piece.
Contract projections have Noteboom signing a one-year deal in free agency for less than two million dollars. His best attribute has been his flexibility throughout his career. He has mountains of experience as a starter both at guard and tackle. Injuries have begun to sink his career, but Noteboom could bring competition at tackle and guard.
