While the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed one quarterback this offseason, it's not who you think. The Steelers have reunited with Mason Rudolph after he spent a year with the Tennessee Titans but the team still needs to find the starter for the 2025 season.

While Aaron Rodgers appears to be who the Steelers would like to bring in, Mike Florio had a backup plan for Pittsburgh if Rodgers goes somewhere else or the Steelers get tired of waiting for him to make up his mind. That backup plan is Jameis Winston, who spent the 2024 season in the AFC North in Cleveland.

"I know they're gonna end up with who you think I know," Florio said on Friday's edition of Pro Football Talk with Chris Simms. "I'm looking at him right now. Jameis Winston. If they don't sign Rodgers, they're gonna go with Jameis Winston. Because he can at least get the ball down the field to DK Metcalf."

Mike Florio thinks the Steelers should pivot to Jameis Winston if Aaron Rodgers signing doesn't pan out

The Steelers have pretty much put themselves in a position where it's either Aaron Rodgers or, no one apparently. Winston has his moments where he's a lot of fun to watch and sure, getting the ball to DK Metcalf and George Pickens wouldn't be an issue for him but neither would giving the ball to the other team.

Winston is famous for slinging the ball everywhere and throwing a ton of interceptions in the process. He threw 12 picks in 12 games for the Browns last year and infamously threw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in 2019, which ended up being his final year in Tampa Bay.

That being said, if the Steelers are going all-in on Rodgers and he decides he either wants to play somewhere else or doesn't want to play at all, Pittsburgh might not have a choice but to sign Winston. It'll be hard to win when their quarterback throws four interceptions a game but hey, like Florio said, at least he can get the ball downfield, even if it is to the other team half the time.
