Steelers star rakes in touchdown catch of the decade vs Commanders
By Tommy Jaggi
That didn't take long. After a quick three-and-out by Pittsburgh's offense to open the game against the Washington Commanders, Russell Wilson and the Steelers marched down the field for the first score of the game.
But this wasn't just any touchdown. George Pickens had fans rising to their feet because of the miraculous TD catch he just pulled off.
On second-and-ten from the 16-yard line, Wilson lobbed a fade to Pickens in the right corner of the endzone, and the young wide receiver made the acrobatic touchdown catch only he could.
We already knew Pickens' body control and spectacular catch ability is out of this world. This is just another one he can add to his already impressive resume.
Pickens, who had a breakout campaign in his second season in 2023, entered Week 10 with 35 catches for 548 yards under his belt. However, the talented receiver logged just one touchdown through the first half of the season.
George Pickens could have a career season with Russell Wilson at QB
This remarkable catch doubles his TD output. Since Wilson took over, Pickens' production has gone through the roof, and it's easy to see that the star receiver has already developed strong chemistry with his new quarterback.
Before the bye Week, Pickens combined for 185 yards and a touchdown in his previous two games with Wilson leading the Steelers' offense. Now he's picking up right where he left off before the bye.
At this rate, Pickens should be on track for new career highs in 2024 and he looks to establish himself as a Pro Bowl-caliber season. If this were practicality anyone else, we would be surprised by the catch he just made. But this is George Pickens we are talking about.
