Steelers top trade targets from potential last-minute deadline sellers
It is crunch time around the NFL when it comes to the trade deadline looming closer on November 5. Contenders want to improve their roster to the best of their abilities while others are trying their best to sell off some pieces.
Those stuck in the middle of being in the playoff hunt, but struggling to stay in the spotlight could find themselves becoming sellers last minute.
Pittsburgh has touted Omar Khan as one of the best General managers in the league, but he continues to have weaknesses pop up across his roster. Wide receiver is the main target the Steelers would love to improve before the trade deadline comes and goes. Some teams who could become last-minute sellers at the deadline could provide new exciting options that fans have been dying for.
Steelers could call these teams if they fall apart before the trade deadline
Miami Dolphins (2-5): Jaylen Waddle
No one expected the Dolphins to sit where they currently do. Tua Tagovailoa being out for most of the season with a concussion sunk them early in the year. It might be too late for a comeback. Could the Steelers find a way to get Jaylen Waddle out of Miami? It would take a lot of convincing on Pittsburgh's part, but the Dolphins have little cap space going into 2025 and 22 pending free agents.
Cincinnati Bengals (3-5): Tee Higgins
Trying to come to a trade agreement within the division could become a real problem between the Bengals and the Steelers. Cincinnati started their season poorly but have had a solid resurgence. They slipped up this past weekend, and they could be surprise sellers if they lose again in Week 9. Tee Higgins wants a new contract and is a pending free agent. He would be great in Pittsburgh.
Indianapolis Colts (4-4): Josh Downs or Alec Pierce
Yes, the black and gold lost to the Colts earlier this year, but the Steelers are in better shape in the standings right now. Indianapolis is in the playoff picture, but it seems like they could either barely make it or just miss the playoffs. If they want to sell, they have both Josh Downs and Alec Pierce who could interest the Steelers. Either one of those two would be fantastic additions to the roster.
Seattle Seahawks (4-4): Tyler Lockett
Now that Russell Wilson has gained the starting job, it makes sense to add a former receiver of his from Seattle. The Seahawks NFC West division is tight right now, but none of the teams have separated themselves yet. If the Seahawks are willing to make some trades, then Tyler Lockett would be a great addition for the Steelers. He already has a tremendous connection with Wilson.
LA Rams (3-4): Cooper Kupp or Tutu Atwell
Since the Rams won that Thursday night game, many dumped cold water on any Cooper Kupp trade ideas. He should still be in consideration for the Steelers, especially if the Rams show any sign of struggle. Their tight division doesn't help the cause but this week could be a big factor in a Kupp trade. Another name on the Rams to consider for Pittsburgh might be Tutu Atwell, who gets overlooked in LA.
