The Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts will meet for the ninth time in the last 10 years in Week 5, both sitting squarely in the middle of the AFC conference with 2-2 records. The Colts are coming off a decisive victory over the Commanders in London last week, while Pittsburgh continued its Thursday night woes with a disappointing loss to the Browns.

This game is an opportunity for both teams to show that they can compete for a playoff spot in a strong AFC. Aside from their records, these teams could not be more different from each other. While Pittsburgh relies on its dominant pass rush and timely plays from Aaron Rodgers and the offense, the Colts' offense, led by Jonathan Taylor, has helped prop up a lackluster defense thus far.

Throughout the week, this tracker will be updated with everything you need to know about the upcoming AFC duel, including injuries, storylines, predictions, and more. Make sure to check back every day for the most up-to-date details.

Biggest Pittsburgh Steelers Storylines heading into Week 5

Can the Steelers defense redeem themselves after a poor effort vs the Browns?

14. That's the number of missed tackles that theSteelers's defense was credited with by Pro Football Focus ($) last week against the Browns. Honestly, it felt like there could have been even more while watching the game.

If Pittsburgh is going to win this game against the Colts at home, they cannot have another day like that while trying to corral the likes of Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, and Tyler Warren. Linebackers Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson, in particular, need to play more physically and finish their tackle attempts, or else Indianapolis will have an easy time moving the ball.

Will the secondary issues allow Daniel Jones to pick on them through the air?

The Steelers' secondary looks nothing like fans expected it would heading into the season. Injuries and the trade of Joey Porter Jr. have left them looking for answers at both safety and cornerback. Assuming Jamel Dean needs at least a week before he can return from his ankle injury, Pittsburgh's expected starting lineup while in nickel this week will feature just two of the five players that were slated for starting roles: Jalen Ramsey and Jaquan Brisker.

With Colt's quarterback Daniel Jones struggling to return to the level of play that took the league by storm last season, could this be the week he regains his form? It's a real possibility given the state of the Steelers' secondary. If they allow that to happen, winning would be nearly impossible.

Can Aaron Rodgers keep up the momentum from the end of the Browns loss?

Rodgers has been a bad QB by almost any metric you can find so far in 2026, but he still flashes the Hall of Fame talent that made him one of the NFL's best players for over a decade. Against the Browns in Week 4, he was utterly useless for almost the entire night, but he helped the offense storm back down 24-10 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 24-24 with 1:42 left on the clock.

He made multiple big throws in that quarter to make it a game, and he will likely need to do more of that for the passing game to have success this week. Even though the Colts are below average on defense this year, the Steelers' offense is even worse overall. Rodgers will have to be much more careful with the football and better at avoiding pressure if he doesn't want to be down multiple scores again in the final minutes.
