The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly hosted Connecticut wide receiver Skyler Bell, among others, for a 30-visit (h/t Mike DeFabo of The Athletic). Of course, nothing is imminent, but it's exciting to see the club do its due diligence on an intriguing 2026 NFL Draft prospect.
It wasn't until Bell transferred to UConn ahead of the 2024 campaign that he took off. However, we saw him truly break out as a redshirt senior. His talent and high-end physical traits were on full display, and the Steelers have seemingly taken notice.
There's a lot to like about Bell's profile. He has the production and measurables to be a long-term starter.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2026 NFL Draft scouting report: UConn WR Skyler Bell
Bell finished fourth in the country in receptions (101), second in receiving yards (1,278), and tied for third in receiving touchdowns (13). His efforts merited 2025 Consensus All-American honors, making him the first player in the Huskies' program history to accomplish the feat. He showcased the ability to win on the inside or outside, proving to be a versatile weapon who can move around the formation.
Moreover, Bell posted an elite 3.13 yards per route run in 2025, which is typically a strong indicator of success in the pros. His 835 yards after the catch were second in the FBS, and he was one of 10 wideouts with 50-plus receiving first downs. The Huskies' star playmaker is a nightmare in open space and a steady chain-mover.
Buzz surrounding Bell has grown since his incredible showing at this year's Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. His elite blend of speed, explosiveness, and agility was evident. He ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash and recorded one of the highest broad and vertical jumps of his position.
For context, Bell's efforts at the league's annual "Underwear Olympics" yielded a 9.83 Relative Athletic Score, which ranks 71st among 4,188 receivers since 1987. His combination of tools, savvy route-running, short-area burst, and change of direction enables him to create separation and be a threat on all three levels. He makes for an ideal early-to-mid-round target for teams looking to upgrade their offensive cast, like Pittsburgh.
Adding a young pass-catcher of Bell's caliber could do wonders for the Steelers' quarterback, whoever that ends up being. He's the No. 60 player on Pro Football Focus' (PFF) big board.
