On Thursday afternoon, the organization announced a three-year, $123 million extension for All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt, securing one of the NFL’s most dominant defenders through the 2028 season.

The reaction was immediate. From fans in the stands to analysts on national TV, the NFL world buzzed with praise. But the most exciting reaction came from one of Pittsburgh’s newest stars—cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

“LESGO,” Ramsey posted on X. It was a short but powerful reaction that summed up how Steelers Nation felt across the board.

And honestly, it’s more than just hype. It’s a sign of growing chemistry and shared commitment between two players who are expected to be cornerstones of Teryl Austin’s defense in 2025.

Ramsey’s excitement makes sense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers should be excited to see their stars energized for the season

He knows how important Watt is to the Steelers’ identity. Without Watt on the field, Pittsburgh doesn’t feel like Pittsburgh. The numbers speak for themselves. Watt has missed 11 games in his career, and the Steelers are 1-10 in those contests.

That stat isn’t just concerning; it’s eye-opening. Ramsey, a defensive veteran and three-time All-Pro himself, understands the kind of impact Watt brings to the field—and the kind of void he leaves when he’s not there.

Now that Watt’s deal is done, Ramsey can turn his full focus to his fresh start in the black and gold. The former Dolphins and Rams cornerback was brought in via a blockbuster trade earlier this offseason, and he was promptly rewarded with a four-year, $87.4 million extension of his own.

Clearly, Pittsburgh is all-in on building a defense that can dominate.

Seeing Ramsey publicly back his teammate says a lot. It shows unity. It shows excitement. And most importantly, it shows that this team isn’t just stacked with talent—they’re buying into each other.

The 2025 season will be grueling, no doubt.

But now that the Watt deal is finalized and Ramsey is fully locked in, Steelers fans can take a breath and get back to what we do best: believing. This defense has the pieces. Now it’s about matching energy with preparation—and making sure Sundays in Pittsburgh feel like war again.
