The Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-2 through the first six weeks of the 2024 season. Surprisingly, Mike Tomlin is poised to make a quarterback change now that Russell Wilson has returned to health after nursing a calf injury.

Looking ahead, the Steelers are sitting in a good spot. While the Baltimore Ravens claimed the number one seed in the AFC North after Week 5 when Pittsburgh lost to Dallas on Sunday Night Football, Mike Tomlin's team would comfortably own a Wild Card spot in the playoffs if the season ended today.

There's still plenty of time for this to change. Tied with the Ravens at 4-2, the head-to-head matchups between these two teams late in the season could dictate the seeding in the division.

So where do the Steelers fit in the AFC Playoff Picture entering Week 7?

Steelers would face Bills in Wild Card round if the season ended today

This looks familiar. Following the 2023 season, the Steelers traveled to Buffalo to face the Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Pittsburgh was bounced from the tournament after a 31-17 loss in the first round of the postseason.

If the season ended today, the Steelers would get a revenge matchup against the Bills. Currently, Pittsburgh is the fifth seed in the AFC -- owning the top Wild Card seed for the time being. With the Bills as the fourth seed, we would once again see Tomlin's team travel to Buffalo in what we can assume will be a bitter-cold playoff matchup in January.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is more than capable of taking the game into his own hands. The last time these teams met in the postseason, Pittsburgh had Mason Rudolph at the helm. The hope is that, by the end of the 2024 season, either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields is in a much better position to carry this team into the playoffs than the hodgepodge of QBs the Steelers had to work with last year.

Entering Week 7, the undefeated Chiefs own the top seed in the AFC and would own the lone first-round bye in the conference. Meanwhile, the Texans (No.2) would host the Colts (No.7) and the Ravens (No. 3) would host the Chargers (No. 6) in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.

Pittsburgh has had success against Buffalo in the past, and it's worth noting that the Steelers were without T.J. Watt in the playoffs last year. Perhaps things would go much differently this time around if these two squads met in the AFC playoffs.
