Steelers 2015 UFA Profiles: CB Ike Taylor

The next edition of the free agent profiles takes us to the one and only Ike Taylor. Taylor signed a one-year deal last offseason for a “pay cut” and is expected to be an unrestricted free agent on March 10th.

More from Still Curtain

Taylor was drafted in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Steelers out of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Taylor has played every single season of his NFL career with the Steelers and is self-admitted Black & Gold through and through.

In 2014 Taylor started and played in only 5 games after suffering a forearm injury in Week 3 against Carolina and never really returning to full form. He played in the Week 14 game at Cincinnati and we all know how that went. The Steelers did with that game but while covered by Taylor, Bengals wide receiver caught for a gajillion yards.

Taylor may be already aware that his playing days for the Steelers may be done. He told 93.7 The Fan that he doesn’t think he’ll be re-signed.

"“They haven’t told me, but I honestly don’t think so. My cleats are always ready to put on. I’ve been fortunate with Pittsburgh. Just because Pittsburgh may not feel like I can do it doesn’t feel like somebody else might think I can do it.” – Ike Taylor"

I think the writing is on the wall for Taylor. The Steelers need to upgrade the secondary like there’s no friggin tomorrow and as much as I love me some Ike “Swaggin U” Taylor, he’s more of a liability on the field than he is a help. Taylor was replaced with a combination of Brice McCain and Antwon Blake and the Steelers would be crazy to not go after a legit corner in the draft or free agency this offseason.

What do you think Steeler Nation? Does Ike Taylor get re-signed by the Steelers?
