Bell gets probation

Remember way back to the preseason when LeBackfield was caught driving while Lehigh on the way to Philadelphia? According to Paula Reed Ward of the PPG, Le’Veon Bell was admitted into a court program called the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for first-time offenders of nonviolent crimes.

Bell was ordered to complete a 15-month probationary program where he must abstain from drugs and alcohol, complete recommended treatment, pay a $100 court fee and court costs and complete a safe driving course in order to have his marijuana charges dismissed and expunged. Now the proverbial ball is in the NFL’s court to determine if Bell is subjected to discipline under their personal conduct policy for the incident.

Corner in the first round

ESPN NFL Draft guru Todd McShay released his most recent mock draft and he’s decided the Steelers will select cornerback Marcus Peters out of Washington with the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. His analysis of Peters suggests that he’s the best all-around cornerback in the draft class. The downside is Peters isn’t exactly “Steeler material” right out the gate.

"“Safety and cornerback are need areas for the Steelers this offseason, and linebacker could also quickly become a problem spot, with James Harrison, Jason Worilds and Arthur Moats all free agents. Based purely off of game tape, Peters is the best all-around cornerback in this class. He has a good combination of instincts, cover skills, toughness and ball skills (11 interceptions in the past three seasons). But Pittsburgh will have to feel comfortable with his character before drafting him, as he was kicked off of Washington’s football team this fall due to behavioral issues.”- Todd McShay"

It takes two to make a thing go right

As Todd McShay alluded to, the Steelers need some help in the outside linebacker position. What they’ve done coaching wise already this season is watch legendary defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau resign and then join the staff with the Titans, promote former linebackers coach Keith Butler to defensive coordinator but now they’ve addressed the linebacker coaching position. By splitting the duties.

Jerry Olsavsky was named the inside linebackers coach while Joey Porter will coach the outside linebackers. Both men wore No. 55 for the Steelers during their respective tenures and now both men will be charged with helping return this linebacking corps into the pass rushing, quarterback harassing nightmare they used to be known as. Good luck to Coach Jerry and Coach Peezy!
