No big deal

Bob Labriola addressed some of the talked about events of the week concerning Steelers fans and dispelled ideas that they were anything to worry about. The first relates to the potential/possible/probably unlikely holdout of Antonio Brown. Labriola points out that the OTAs at this point are voluntary and Brown himself said that he’d be back with his teammates soon.

He also reminded that neither Ben Roethlisberger nor James Harrison were present at OTAs this week, and no one speculates about them holding out. The next issue was the signing of Jordan Berry, another punter from Australia. Labriola explains that the Steelers needed a punter for rookie minicamp, held the weekend after the draft, and Berry was a safe signing for that purpose.

The Steelers also signed long-snapper Brandon Hartson, prompting concern that he’d compete against veteran Greg Warren for the job but Labriola dispels that as well as a need for a long snapper for rookie camp and nothing else.

Look at all these mocks

The Steelers are less than a week away from Roger Goodell announcing their first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and ESPN’s Scott Brown has compiled the mocked first picks from all around the NFL analyst world. ESPN’s draft guys Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay differ on who they think the Steelers will select (shocking) with Kiper Jr. saying the Steelers will take UConn CB Byron Jones and McShay leaning towards Kentucky OLB Bud Dupree.

The majority of the NFL Network guys have the Steelers selecting Washington CB Marcus Peters with the 22nd overall pick with CBS Sports’ analysts split between him and Wake Forest CB Kevin Johnson. Sports Illustrated’s analysts all think the Steelers go with Jalen Collins, cornerback out of LSU. And only WalterFootball.com has the Steelers being able to take Randy Gregory out of Nebraska.

Steelers in Mexico

You don’t have to convince anybody around these parts that the Steelers are the real America’s Team but did you know that they’re also the most NFL team in Mexico too? The Steelers are holding a football camp in Cancun this weekend for adults and kids and even featuring current and former Steelers players helping with instruction.

Kelvin Beachum, William Gay, Jarvis Jones, Greg Lloyd, Maurkice Pouncey and Antwaan Randle El will all be part of the 2015 Steelers Camp in Mexico this weekend.
