The Steelers look to stack wins together as the New York Jets enter Heinz Field for an AFC showdown.
The Steelers dominated the Chiefs last week with a 43-14 victory responding bigtime from their shellacking in Philly. They’re a bit more bruised and there are more injuries to overcome but the key players are hopefully just getting warmed up.
Le’Veon Bell made his 2016 season debut last week to the tune of 144 rushing yards and another 34 receiving yards. Ben Roethlisberger went 22-for-27 for 300 yards and five touchdowns and I don’t know about you but I’m hoping it’s one of those times where Ben puts together back-to-back 5-TD performances.
The offensive line is bruised and battered with Marcus Gilbert and Ryan Harris both out. Harris was placed on IR by the team on Saturday so his season is over.
Still the Steelers are going up against a Jets team that has seen Ryan Fitzpatrick giving the ball away more than anyone else in the league so far and their secondary is getting picked apart by plays with gains of 30+ yards; a favorite of Roethlisberger and Co.
Here’s hoping the team doesn’t lay an egg against a sub .500 team and send the yinzers into a panic mode. The Jets have been giving up an average of 31 points a game through the first quarter of the season. That certainly lines up with Todd Haley’s goal of scoring 30+ points per game.
