OMG with the drops, Sammie

It was an up and down day on Sunday for receiver Sammie Coates. On Pittsburgh’s first possession Ben Roethlisberger hit Coates for a 72-yard touchdown on a third down. Coates went on to follow that up with what seemed like a million dropped passes.

Roethlisberger didn’t give up on the second-year man and he ended up with six catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns. He could’ve had at least two more touchdowns for the day but Coates ends up with career-high numbers anyway.

NFL Network reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala says that Coates cut his hand and received stitches during halftime but wouldn’t blame his drops on it.

More Bell

The offensive line gets the game ball for Sunday’s 31-13 win over the Jets but Bob Labriola reports that Le’Veon Bell is the Digest Player of the Week. Bell finished the game with 154 total yards from scrimmage with 66 yards on the ground and 88 receiving yards.

The offensive line with Chris Hubbard stepping in for the injured Marcus Gilbert was solid for the entire day. Makes me hope that Mike Munchak never wants another job for as long as Roethlisberger is here.

Why pick on AB?

The NFL is run by a bunch of grumpy old guys who don’t want to have any fun. Antonio Brown was apparently allowed to wear cleats commemorating the late Arnold Palmer last week against the Chiefs but this Sunday against the Jets he wore a pair honoring Muhammed Ali.
