Saxon and Munchak working together

OTA’s aren’t just for rookies and new free agents to get acclimated with the team. New coaches are getting on the same page as well. Mike Prisuta caught up with them to find out how they’re working together on the blocking schemes for the offensive line that will best benefit the Steelers running game.

"“Right now, (offensive line coach Mike Munchak) and myself, being the two new guys we’re in the process of learning all the little intricacies of what we’re trying to do as an offense. We’ve had a lot of great discussions about what we want. The conversations that I’m having with the guys in my room, I’ve said, ‘Look, we’re going to do the best things in the running game for the five guys that are blocking up front.’ We have to be accountable in terms of where we put the football. They’re going to know where to put the football because we have to help those five guys up front.” – James Saxon"

Hungry Steelers

In the NFL if you stay hungry, you stay fed. That’s exactly what the Steelers need to do after consecutive 8-8 seasons. According to ESPN’s Scott Brown, the team looked like a hungry team after wrapping up their first session of OTA’s. The sense of urgency extends from the players finishing drills with sprints on the field to the coaching staff bucking their previous trends and giving rookies opportunities where they haven’t had before.
