The Steelers defense showed some improvement over the last preseason game. Jarvis Jones recovered a fumble after a bad snap to Derek Anderson and was then taken down by his hair by former Steelers center Fernando Velasco. The Steelers defense gave up 314 total yards including 100 rushing yards. The Steelers defense failed to sack either Derek Anderson or Joe Webb of the Panthers.
On the offensive side of the ball good lord did Landry Jones look awful again. Jones played 2 and a half quarters and finished going 14 for 18 for 97 yards and zero points. The Steelers offense didn’t sniff the red zone for the entire game. Brendon Kay took over for Jones halfway through the third quarter and went 5-10 for 32 yards. The Steelers quarterbacks were sacked a combined six times for 50 lost yards.
On special teams punter Brad Wing punted nine times with a 40.1 average. Dri Archer had two punt returns that went absolutely nowhere and Lanear Sampson returned both kicks for the night with nothing to write home about there.
The Steelers now have until Saturday afternoon to cut 22 players in order to get down to the standard 53-man roster.
