Bell is Steelers 2014 MVP
There was some team business to attend to on Tuesday for the guys in Black & Gold. Before starting preparations for the Sunday night showdown against the Bengals for the AFC North crown, the Steelers voted on their team’s most valuable player. Second-year RB Le’Veon Bell was recognized by his teammates for an outstanding season so far, a season that has him as the No. 1 rusher in the AFC and new owner of the franchise record for single-season yards from scrimmage.
Bell has 2,115 yards from scrimmage, 1,341 of them on the ground and he’s still behind Dallas’ DeMarco Murray for the league’s rushing leader. Last season, Bell was chosen as the Joe Greene Great Performance Award winner, an award the team gives to the top rookie. Who would you have chosen as the Steelers MVP?
Merry Christmas from the Pittsburgh Steelers
There are few things I look forward to each holiday season as much as the Steelers Christmas Carols video. Something about it for me signifies the official start of Christmas and I know it won’t be long till Dick LeBeau is reciting ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ to the group. The tight end group could use a bit more personality in their performance, though.
Is Blitzburgh Back?
The Steelers defensive performance on Sunday against the Chiefs reminds us all that the national narrative will always be that the Steelers are a defense-first team. Whether it’s accurate or not, Pittsburgh will always be associated with stout defense. Even in a season where the Steelers offense is having a record-breaking year, here comes Judy Battista, national NFL reporter to suggest the resurgence of the Steelers D.
I’m as pleased as the next fan that the Steelers defense was able to stand up against the Chiefs, but I still think the reality is at this point the Steelers have to rely on their offense to see how far they can take this run they’re on. What’s important is that the team is getting hot at the right moment. Whatever works is what they have to go with.
