Greedy Steelers

The Steelers may have already clinched their playoff berth with their win last week over Kansas City. But, as the PPG’s Ed Bouchette explains, the Steelers aren’t comfortable with just getting into the playoffs. They want to win the division and the home playoff game that goes with it. The Steelers have more AFC North titles than anyone else in the division since it was formed in 2002.

They’ve also won more division titles than anyone in the AFC since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 with 20. If they win their sixth AFC North division title on Sunday night they’ll earn some new hats and t-shirts, as well as the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and a home playoff game against whomever ends up as the 6th seed.

Count on Ben

CBS Sport’s Pete Prisco made his picks for Week 17’s games and thinks the Steelers have the edge in the Sunday Night AFC North showdown.

"“The Bengals won a huge game to advance to the playoffs in beating Denver on Monday night. Now the division title is on the line. The Steelers blew out Cincinnati three weeks ago. That game was close in the fourth. This one will be as well, but the Steelers will find a way with some late heroics from Ben Roethlisberger. 23-24 Steelers.” – Pete Prisco"

Timmons finally getting recognized

Steeler Nation has known that Lawrence Timmons has been one of the most consistent, versatile, and solid linebackers for the team for a few seasons now. He’s finally getting the national recognition with his first selection to the Pro Bowl earlier this week. ESPN’s Scott Brown says that Timmons has been playing all over the field for the Steelers this season, playing both inside spots and sometimes on the outside if needed as well. He’s third in the AFC with 121 tackles and has only missed two games in his career because of injury.
