Steelers Roethlisberger Snubbed, Left Off All-Pro Team

facebooktwitterreddit

The Steelers have quite the special quarterback.  Just not special enough to make All-Pro honors, I guess.

Ben Roethlisberger had a career season in 2014.  Let’s take a look at some of his rankings…

Passing yards:  T-1st (4,952)
300+ yard games: 2nd (9 games)
100+ QB Rating Games: T-2nd (10 games)
QB Rating for season: 3rd (103.3)
Completions: 3rd (408)
Completion %: 3rd (67.1)
TDs: 7th (32)

If you’re wondering, those are all league ranks, not franchise.  In a season when Roethlisberger and his offense blew up the scoreboard on numerous occasions, apparently it wasn’t enough to turn a single head among the 50 AP writers who are responsible for casting votes.  Not a single vote.

Which quarterbacks received votes? Aaron Rodgers (44), Tony Romo (4), Tom Brady (2), and Andrew Luck (1).

Andrew Friggin’ Luck.  The QB who had less attempts, yards, averages than two of the three listed AND Ben Roethlisberger at got one vote.  The only think Luck had the most of was touchdowns (40).  That’s eight more than Big Ben.  But, Luck also had seven more interceptions than Ben. Wahh wahh.  Tom Brady received two votes and has the worse stats of the group.  Makes sense.

With that, Rodgers gets first team honors (well deserved) and Romo gets second team honors (not deserved).  The love for “America’s Team” is still strong, I guess.  Ben is left off the list completely.  Can’t help but wonder if this is still one of those ripples from his past that continues to haunt him in gaining significant recognition among the nation media scene.

Eh well.  Screw it.  I’d rather he get another Super Bowl than these so called honors, such as the Pro Bowl and All Pro.  A third Super Bowl won in MVP-like fashion will be the only thing to douse the hater fire and solidify the outcome of his ballot for Canton.
