Bell voted ESPN AFC North MVP
The ESPN.com writers have decided that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was the AFC North’s MVP. It’s hard to argue with that considering Bell joined HOF’er Marshal Faulk as the only players in NFL history with at least 1,350 rushing yards and 850 receiving yards in a season.
The Steelers sorely missed the production of Bell in their playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Not that they might have had more success running the ball, but the options Bell gives to the offense in the passing game limited them as they failed to keep up with the Ravens in the 30-17 loss. I think Bell is a good pick, considering you can see how he was missed on the field but I’d still go back to Ben Roethlisberger and say it would have been much worse if he wasn’t able to play in that game over Bell.
Porter on Bettis
Steelers linebacker coach Joey Porter credits Jerome Bettis for grooming him to be the linebacker he was in the NFL. As Teresa Varley explains, Porter says that having to go up against The Bus in practice every day made Porter want to work harder. He described Bettis as “a linebacker that played running back.”
Bettis and the rest of Steeler Nation await the announcement of the Hall of Fame Class of 2015 tonight. You won’t find many to disagree with this sentiment.
"“There are other big running backs that played the game, but not like he did, not with the level of success he had for 13 seasons, being the man for that long at a high level. He was a power back. A lot of guys claim to be a power back, but he was one. He earned every yard he has. He ran hard. He caught the ball. He scored touchdowns. He won the Super Bowl. He was a first round pick.” – Joey Porter"
Bradshaw gets roasted
WPXI in Pittsburgh reports that former Steelers quarterback and now Fox Sports analyst, Terry Bradshaw was roasted this week in Phoenix as part of the Super Bowl festivities. The roast was part of a charity even that benefits a program for wounded veterans.
The easiest thing to roast Bradshaw on is his many failed marriages, so they took their shots when they could. Comedian Joel McHale said that Bradshaw had four Super Bowl rings, “one for each Super Bowl Championship and failed marriage.” Comedienne Lisa Lampanelli said that Bradshaw “looks like Hulk Hogan’s grandfather.” Even Joe Montana got a shot in. He said that Bradshaw “always gave 100 percent: 50 percent on the field, and 50 percent to his ex-wife.”
