Which Steelers are elite?
It’s a never-ending debate in the NFL, thanks to talking heads at the World Wide Leader and anyone looking to fill air space with their opinions on who is “elite” in the NFL and who isn’t. The folks over at Pro Football Focus, however, take a more analytical approach to the debate, letting the statistics settle out the discussion.
They’ve concluded that based on last season the Steelers have two elite players in quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown. I’ve also concluded in my own independent research that water is wet. Their rankings even include the “very good” category to which running back Le’Veon Bell, tackle Kelvin Beachum and defensive end Cam Heyward fall into.
Dear Mr. Suh,
Thanks to the efforts of NHL player Jordan Leopold’s 10-year-old daughter writing the Minnesota Wild to recruit her father via trade, the ESPN staff had a little fun with it and decided to have some of their guys recruit soon-to-be free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to their former teams. Jerome Bettis read the following letter to pitch Suh to the Steelers:
"Dear Mr. Suh,I am writing this letter from the city of champions where I believe you can help resurrect the steel curtain and bring the next championship to Pittsburgh. I do understand that this is a three-four defense and that you are not necessarily a three-four Defensive Lineman, but you are a champion…I can see it inside of you and if you want the change to bring that out and become a champion I believe Pittsburgh is the best fit.We will be willing to make some adjustments to the three-four defense to make you more of a pass rusher. We will put the pass rush around you and build the backend of the defense to support you. The offense will complement you and the crowd with adore you…This is my promise to you!P.S. I can see letters after your name in Pittsburgh!Thank you,Jerome Bettis HOF ‘15"
You can watch Jerome’s pitch along with Mark Brunell and Jeff Saturday make similar pitches right here.
Adams to sue
Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams is going on the offensive. According to Adam Brandolph of the Trib, Adams filed a civil lawsuit on Wednesday against the three men acquitted of attacking him in the South Side last year. The lawsuit alleges the three men assaulted him and inflicted emotional distress. The three men were found not guilty of assault and two of them had filed civil lawsuits of their own against Adams.
