Steelers 2015 Mock Regular Season Schedule

facebooktwitterreddit

We are within a few weeks of the 2015 NFL Draft which also means we are also within a few weeks or less of the release of the 2015 NFL Regular Season Schedule. The release of the schedule is my favorite thing for some reason.

Even though we know the opponents months ahead of time there’s just an excitement about finding out whom the opener is against, how many prime time games there will be, when the bye week is and which games does it look like I could go to. There’s still all the excitement and optimism of the offseason with just enough of a taste of the regular season to make me salivate for more.

So, in honor of the excellent mock draft work being done, I decided to take it upon myself and try to mock the schedule out. Mike Florio of PFT reported Monday afternoon that the schedule release date is tentatively aimed towards April 23rd at the moment but could come anywhere between the 21-23 of this month. Let’s see how close I came!

I went a different direction than what we’ve all been predicting that the Steelers would most likely open up in New England for the regular season opener on Thursday, April 10th. I kind of figured with both LeGarrette Blount and Le’Veon Bell definitely serving suspensions for Week 1, the league wouldn’t want their opening game to be centered around who isn’t playing. That ain’t good PR.

So, with that in mind, here goes my 2015 Steelers Mock Regular Season Schedule by Week:

Home. Baltimore Ravens. 1. player. 26. Why not start the season off with a little drama anyway? Let’s see if the Steelers can successfully take down the Ravens without Le’Veon Bell this time around?. Sunday night, 9/13 8:20 pm

42. The Steelers face the San Francisco 49ers at home. New 49ers head coach and Homestead, PA native Jim Tomsula returns home coaching for the first time since he was a defensive line coach at Woodland Hills High School in the 90s.. Sunday, 9/20 1:00 pm. Home. San Francisco 49ers. 2. player

124. The Steelers travel to Kansas City for a Week 3 Monday night matchup against the Chiefs. Hopefully Le’Veon Bell is back from his suspension at this point if he gets it knocked down to two games. The Steelers clinched their playoffs spot last season with a 20-12 win over Kansas City at home.. Monday night, 9/28. Away. Kansas City Chiefs. 3. player

player. 47. The Steelers and the Patriots square off in a Sunday night battle with both Bell and Blount back from suspensions. Can the Steelers knock off the defending Super Bowl Champs and exact revenge on Blount for ditching them last season?. Sunday night, 10/4 8:20 pm. Away. New England Patriots. 4

Thursday night, 10/15 8:30pm. Home. Oakland Raiders. 5. player. 28. The Steelers always seem to have a rough time against inferior teams, particularly the Raiders of late. In this Thursday night matchup we’ll see if they can exercise their demons and take care of the Raiders in an old-school rivalry game.

player. 53. The Steelers get their first crack at Johnny Manziel in this late-October divisional matchup game. The Steelers split their series against the Browns last season.. Sunday, 10/25 1:00pm. Home. Cleveland Browns. 7

Sunday, 11/1 1:00pm. Away. Cincinnati Bengals. 8. player. 56. The Steelers swept the Bengals last season on their way to returning the AFC North title back to Pittsburgh. Can they do it again this year?

The Steelers have had an awful time in recent years for west coast games. Can they turn their fortunes around if the NFL throws them a bone and gives them their schedule request? Ben Roethlisberger goes up against fellow 2004 NFL Draft Class QB Philip Rivers, if he’s still in San Diego by then.. Sunday, 11/8 4:00pm. Away. San Diego Chargers. 9. player. 13

Away. Seattle Seahawks. 10. player. 36. Hoping that the NFL gives the Steelers their west coast games back-to-back this looks to be an interesting matchup whenever it is played. Can the Steelers defense handle Russell Wilson and his new offensive weapon, Jimmy Graham? Can they stop Beast Mode? And how will Ben Roethlisberger do against the Seahawks secondary?. Sunday night, 11/15 8:20pm

Cincinnati Bengals. 11. player. 56. The AFC North division race will be taking shape at this point and the Steelers will look to sweep the Bengals for a second-straight year if they want to repeat as division champs.. Sunday, 11/22 1:00pm. Home

Sunday, 11/29 1:00pm. Away. Cleveland Browns. 12. player. 53. The Steelers will be looking to lock up the division and will need to revenge the disappointing 31-10 loss they had in Cleveland last season. The Browns don’t have Brian Hoyer this time around, will Manziel still be under center at this point in the season?

player. 46. Last season the Steelers put up 51 points against the Colts in a win where Ben Roethlisberger threw for six touchdowns. Can they have the same kind of luck against Luck a second year in a row?. Sunday, 12/6 1:00pm. Home. Indianapolis Colts. 13

player. 51. The Steelers will have on of their four Super Bowl rematches this season (including the HOF game against the Vikings). This is a rematch of Super Bowl XIV where the Steelers won 31-19 over the then-Los Angeles Rams. Monday, 12/14 8:30pm. Away. St. Louis Rams. 14

Home. Arizona Cardinals. 15. player. 32. Bruce Arians returns to Pittsburgh as coach of the Arizona Cardinals in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIII. If Carson Palmer is still playing at this point and not on the sidelines with a torn rotator cuff, ACL, Achilles, groin pull, etc. I’ll be shocked.. Sunday, 12/20 1:00pm

45. The Steelers defense will have to be able to stop Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense, now under Gary Kubiak as head coach. Emmanuel Sanders returns to Pittsburgh after leaving for Denver as a free agent.. Sunday, 12/27 4:15pm. Home. Denver Broncos. 16. player

17. player. 26. It begins and ends with the Ravens. If the Steelers can sweep the series their almost assured the AFC North title again but can the Steelers turn that into a playoff win as well?. Sunday, 1/2 1:00pm. Away. Baltimore Ravens

Here we go Steelers! Here we go!
