Ike will miss it all

The Steelers are losing members of the old guard left and right. On Tuesday morning Ike Taylor announced his retirement from the NFL. He played twelve years for the Steelers and was an unrestricted free agent. He takes pride in the fact that the played every down of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"“I wasn’t cut, I wasn’t released. It was just my contract was up and it was time to retire. If you have to have pride, well that is the kind of pride I have, being able to play my contract out. From the first time I walked in the door to the time I left, this is where I wanted to be. How the organization is, the locker room, you see why we win. When I became a free agent twice it made my decision easy.” – Ike Taylor"

In my opinion Taylor will go down as one of the most underrated players in Steelers history. For the large part of his career he shadowed the top receivers on the teams the Steelers played against and he covered and tackled as well as anybody could expect. Thank you Ike, your time was up, but you will still be missed.

Tight ends anyone?

In the midst of fielding retirement announcements the Steelers are also busy hosting draft picks. ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown states that the Steelers hosted two tight ends on Tuesday. They hosted Ohio State’s Jeff Heurman and Alabama-Birmingham’s Kennard Backman.

In addition to the tight ends, the Steelers hosted Washington State defensive tackle Xavier Cooper. Heurman is projected as a third-to-fifth round pick while the other two players are projected as much lower or undrafted free agents. The Steelers are apparently covering all bases with their pre-draft visits.

New Browns uniforms

The Cleveland Browns unveiled their new uniforms on Tuesday night. There as Browns as you can get. Take a look for yourself and see if you can picture these with their usual sub .500 record.
