2015 NFL Draft AFC North Picks: Browns Pick Xavier Cooper

facebooktwitterreddit

You thought it was just about over but no. The Browns had to jump in and trade three picks for the rights to the Patriots’ 96th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Very Browns thing to do considering of course the Pats would comply, they literally had the very next pick as the first compensatory pick at the end of the third round.

Never change, Browns, never change. For the 96th overall pick in the draft the Cleveland Browns selected defensive tackle Xavier Cooper out of Washington State. Cooper started all 25 games for the Cougars the last two years. Cooper was projected as a 3rd or 4th round pick so makes perfect sense that the Browns traded three picks to grab him at the end of the third round, right?

Cooper seems more like a project player as well. His strengths include his athleticism and quickness but his weaknesses include his lack of domination on the line and his short arms. So it’s almost like they drafted a T-Rex as a defensive lineman. That should be easy enough to prepare for. Just ask him to clap his hands and then move right on by.

The Steelers’ problems against the Browns in recent years came mostly with self-inflicted wounds. Turnovers and not necessarily by dominating performances by the Browns, particularly by the defensive line. So it’s hard to judge if any of the picks and how they will affect games going forward.

More than likely the Browns will be another dumpster fire this season and Steelers fans across the country will enjoy every minute of it.

What do you think of the Browns draft picks through the first three rounds Steeler Nation? Did the Browns give you anything to worry about for the upcoming season or for future matchups?
