We’re almost there

PFT’s Mike Florio reminds us that the Steelers and Vikings have just a couple of weeks before training camp opens in full. The two teams will meet in Canton for the Hall of Fame game so they’re going to have an extra-long preseason.

The Baltimore Ravens will be the first team to open with rookies reporting on July 22nd and the veterans showing up a week later. The Steelers do not have different dates for rookies and veterans to report to camp. The doors open for everyone to report on July 25th. Here is a complete schedule of Steelers 2015 Training Camp.

Get to know Coates

This year’s draft Wild Card was wide receiver Sammie Coates. Coates was taken in the 3rd round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Auburn and joins an already stacked wide receiver group for the Steelers. Teresa Varley gives us some insight into Coates and his story.

His proudest football moment comes from one of College Football’s best rivalries.

"“It would probably be getting 206 yards against our biggest rival in college, Alabama. I will never forget it because it was one of the best games of the season.” – Sammie Coates"

Coates’ goals for the 2015 season include being a part of another winning season for the Steelers.

"“I want to be a part of what we do. I want to win, and I want to be a part of winning. I want to do whatever I can to contribute to winning.” – Sammie Coates"

Brown vs. Green

The ESPN AFC North staffers have an interesting question for you. Which is the best receiver in the AFC North: Antonio Brown or A.J. Green?

Jeremy Fowler explains that Green fits the mold of the better receiver but you just can’t ignore the production that Brown has put up the past two seasons. He had a career year in 2013 and then went out and blew those numbers out of the water in 2014.

The majority of the writers agreed, except for you know who, who didn’t try to make a case for Steve Smith but instead discounted Brown’s production because of his superior quarterback. Just because Brown gets Ben Roethlisberger as his quarterback we should forget that he’s caught 36 more passes than anyone else in the NFL over the last two seasons. Sure.
