Bye weeks, injuries, suspensions, these are the problems that make the waiver wire such an important factor in fantasy football. Sometimes, gems can be found on the waiver wire (look at Odell Beckham Jr. last season) and other times, it could just be a player to fill a spot for a week. Either way, these are some players to lookout for when you’re waiver hunting.
DeAngelo Williams – the backup RB will carry the workload during the first two games of the season as Bell serves his suspension so he will be a good pickup for those two weeks. After that his carries will drop off significantly and even if he does help carry some of the workload when Bell returns, don’t expect any big numbers.
Markus Wheaton – the young receiver has earned the confidence of his teammates during training camp and may finally get a chance to shine this season. He could be a diamond in the waiver wire rough for some teams.
Steelers D/ST – this is definitely where the Steelers have the most issues as the defense is extremely young and inexperienced. However, young and inexperienced doesn’t necessarily mean bad or untalented. If this defense molds well, they could be a nice pickup as the season progresses.
