Still Curtain Week 1 NFL Picks

The time has come for the annual Still Curtain weekly picks tournament. The long and painful wait of the offseason and preseason is finally over and the NFL kicks off its 2015 regular season tonight.

Here at Still Curtain we are not only a bunch of nerds who follow the Pittsburgh Steelers tirelessly but we are also a bunch of nerds who follow the NFL tirelessly. Therefore we put our money (or maybe just our pride) where our mouths are and make picks on every NFL game on the schedule.

We don’t mess around with point spreads or anything like that. Just straight up picks.

Never has an opening game had as much going on in the background as this game does with the Steelers traveling to New England to take on the Super Bowl Champion* Patriots. Aside from the suspensions of LeGarrette Blount and Le’Veon Bell, Martavis Bryant is also sitting out the first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

One key player who is no longer suspended is Tom Brady. Each team features a suspect and questionable defense so we could be looking at a shootout. The best part of this game for the Steelers is that it is only Week 1 and not late in the season when this game could mean the difference between a playoff berth or not.

Elsewhere on the week 1 schedule will feature divisional matchups such as the Packers and Bears, Seahawks and Rams and Giants at Cowboys. The Ravens travel to Denver in another interesting AFC matchup while the top two draft picks battle it out in Tampa Bay when the Titans take on the Buccaneers.

There is plenty of football to feast on between Thursday to Monday night. Just soak it in and enjoy because these are the fastest 17 weeks of the whole year.

It’s time for me to extend my reign as champion of the picks. Feel free to join us in making picks of your own in the comments section, or take the opportunity to heckle and criticize our predictions if that’s your deal. Make picks of your own or you can root for your favorite Still Curtain staffer!
