Steelers News: Roethlisberger, Brown, Steeler Nation

The Steelers have a quick turnaround from their Monday Night Football victory over the San Diego Chargers to prepare for the Arizona Cardinals to come to town. While the team turns their sights towards game-planning against Bruce Arians we’ll be looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Thursday, Oct. 15th.

Ready for a comeback?

Mike Tomlin didn’t give an update on Ben Roethlisberger’s injury status in his Tuesday presser Teresa Varley tells us Roethlisberger is getting ready to head back to practice.

"“One day at a time. Today is Wednesday. I am going to get some treatment, get a workout in, attack practice today and do some seven-on-seven stuff and we will take it one day at a time.” – Ben Roethlisberger"

It all depends on how his body responds to practice to determine how close he is to getting back on the field. Obviously quarterbacks don’t get hit in practice so even if he practices all week this week I’d say the earliest he could be back would be next week.

Trust me, man

It’s no shock that Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown’s production has reduced in Ben Roethlisberger’s absence. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN explains that it’s not necessarily Michael Vick avoiding Brown, or Brown being upset with the lack of touches, but a quarterback-receiver relationship takes time.

"“He’s got to take some shots. I told him, trust me a little bit. Let me make some plays. Let’s get a victory. It doesn’t have to be that hard.” – Antonio Brown"

Always a home game

It was very obvious on Monday night that Steeler Nation was in full effect in San Diego. You can only say the “Steelers fans travel well” so long before you actually realize that Steelers fans are actually everywhere.

PFT’s Michael David Smith explained how the noise Steelers fans produced actually altered the Chargers’ offense. Philip Rivers told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he had to go to a silent count, in his own stadium, because of the noise.

"“We were in silent count. There was no chance. We’re checking in and out of plays. I’m usually hoarse after those road games. I’m going to be today as well. I don’t know where to credit for that, whether you give it to Pittsburgh for just how many fans there are, whether they travel or whether they are just all over the place.” – Philip Rivers"

We’re all over the place, Phil. Move to Los Angeles, we’ll be there too boo.
