The Steelers are looking to rebound from a loss in Kansas City and hope to get Ben Roethlisberger back from knee injury in time to face the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. While they’re preparing for their three-game home stand we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Saturday, Oct. 31st.
Ready and waiting
Steelers cornerback Brandon Boykin got some defensive snaps in last Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after Antwon Blake had to be taken out and evaluated for a concussion and William Gay suffered a shoulder injury. Mike Prisuta spoke to him about his desire to get out on the field and contribute.

"“I want to play, everybody knows that. Everybody knows the people here, we’re competitors. We want to be on the field but you have to be in the right mindset. You have to be in the right head space when you actually do get that opportunity. If you walk around angry every day, you finally get in you’re not focused on what you need to be on. When things kind of transpired like they have I had to refocus myself and just try to get better at something every single day knowing that I’m new here, knowing that even if I didn’t walk in here and play Day One you still have to maintain your poise. You still have to go to work every day.” – Brandon Boykin"
Support the cause
Steelers cornerback William Gay was fined $5,787 by the NFL this week for wearing purple cleats in Kansas City. Purple is the color representing domestic violence awareness, a cause that is very close to Gay’s heart since his mother was murdered as a result of domestic violence.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explains that Gay is not appealing his fine and is taking the attention he’s getting from being fined to raise awareness for the cause, and hopes the NFL will direct his $5,787 payment to benefit domestic violence victims.
Tuitt out
The Steelers will get Ben Roethlisberger back in time to face the undefeated Bengals but they’ll be missing two defensive starters in defensive end Stephon Tuitt and safety Will Allen. The PPG’s Ray Fittipaldo tells us Robert Golden will start in place for Allen and the Steelers will use a combination of Cam Thomas, Steve McLendon and Daniel McCullers in rotation for Tuitt.
Tuitt’s absence will surely be missed as he and Cameron Heyward have been a force on the defensive line and work phenomenal together. This puts a lot more pressure on the secondary and the linebackers.
