The Steelers are coming off of a last minute victory over the Raiders and looking to face the Cleveland Browns at home before their bye week. While they prepare for the Browns we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Thursday, Nov. 12th.
Everybody cut loose
Landry Jones is getting his first NFL action of his career this season since being drafted in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Steelers out of Oklahoma. Until now Jones has mostly been known as the preseason quarterback and the first name on the inactives list each game day.

With the injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Michael Vick this season Jones is finally getting to show his stuff on the big stage. Teresa Varley got Jones’ thoughts on how he’s able to stay cool, calm and collected while being thrust into a high-pressure situation and how he feels about Sunday’s potential start against the Browns as opposed to his previous start against the Chiefs.
"“I just feel a lot more comfortable. I feel a lot more comfortable inside the offense, a lot more comfortable with where I’m at, as far as confidence and ability to make plays out there. Like I’ve always been saying, this is a great opportunity for me and I’m blessed to be here. God has put me in this new position and I give him all the praise and glory right now. I’m just kind of excited to get out there and play. I just have to go out there and play. I can’t play timid, or worrying about the mistakes and the future. I just have to go out there and cut loose.” – Landry Jones"
We just giggle
Jacoby Jones made his Steelers debut on Sunday but looks to make a bigger impact this week with a full week of practice under his belt. Naturally Jacoby can’t be here a week without it being addressed how he feels today about that Thanksgiving 2013 play where Tomlin was in his way of a kickoff return when he was a member of the Baltimore Ravens.
Ray Fittipaldo has Jacoby’s answer about if he harbors any ill-will to his new coach for that play.
"“We look at each other and just giggle sometimes because we already know. I actually laugh about it. It was funny to me. We laugh and joke about it now.” – Jacoby Jones"
Playoffs?!
The Steelers got themselves back in the playoff race last weekend with the 38-35 win over the Raiders. In spite of four AFC losses, the Steelers are already in the sixth spot if the playoffs were to start today. ESPN Football Outsiders’ Aaron Schatz projects the Steelers will stay at that spot through the remainder of the season.
