The Steelers head to Cincinnati for a little AFC North road action. Only thing on the line is everything.
The Steelers are looking to stay in the logjam of teams fighting for the two AFC Wild Card spots while the Bengals are looking to get a first-round bye along with the AFC North title. A first-round bye would come in handy for a team that hasn’t won a playoff game since the Cold War was still a thing.
The Steelers are coming off of winning three of the last four games primarily riding on an offensive high provided by Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Markus Wheaton and DeAngelo Williams. When these guys are clicking they look to be virtually unstoppable.
For the Steelers to come away with a win in this game they’ll need the efforts of the defensive line and linebackers to get after Andy Dalton so wide receivers like A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu don’t have time to get open. Who knows what Steelers secondary we could be in store for this time?
Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler talked this week about the redistribution of snaps for the cornerback position to keep the guys fresh in the hopes they can contain players like Green and Sanu.
"“I liked it, I think it helps us. Our guys were getting worn out this time of year. We played a lot of football games, including five preseason games. Those guys have never played that many snaps in a season. It was starting to wear on them, I think, both mentally and physically. It was good for us that we ran some people in and out and they were productive. And hopefully, we can keep that up.” – Keith Butler"
