Steelers News: Timmons, Bryant, Foster

The Steelers are attempting to work their way back from squandering their control of their own playoff destiny to set their sights on the Cleveland Browns.

While the Steelers head back out onto the practice field we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Wednesday, Dec. 30th.

Frustration

More from Steelers News

The PPG’s Ray Fittipaldo reminds us

that we’re aren’t the only ones who notice who difficult it has been in recent years for the Steelers to beat sub .500 teams. The players are more than aware that they’ve gone into stadiums with every expectation to have the game put away by halftime only to end up leaving in defeat and frustration. Linebacker

Lawrence Timmons

explains his frustrations.

"“It is frustration because we know the caliber of team we are. We’re a playoff team, and we should be the necessary opponents that we should beat. We didn’t do that. That’s plaguing us right now. We have to make the necessary corrections.” – Lawrence Timmons"

Expectations

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had his typical Tuesday spot as part of The Cook and Poni Show on 93.7 The Fan and he went over his frustrations on the 20-17 loss to Baltimore on Sunday. He spoke about a particular play where he called out receiver Martavis Bryant for not making a play.

Roethlisberger described a 3rd-and-15 late in the game where, based on the defensive look he noticed that Bryant was available to make a play.

"“The play call was really designed kind of for Antonio Brown to work the middle, Markus Wheaton on the right side to run like a 12 to 13-yard route and then we were going to send Martavis on a go route just in case they gave us the same look that they had given us earlier in the game. And so they gave us that look…the play wasn’t necessarily to try to get it all, but because of the look they gave us, it gave us an opportunity for it. We expect Martavis to make that play. I’m not telling you guys or the fans anything that we haven’t told him or that he coaches haven’t told him…if he wants to be great, he’s got to make that play.” – Ben Roethlisberger"

Don’t drop an egg

Steelers guard Ramon Foster spoke with 93.7 The Fan Morning Show and spoke about how the Steelers can’t afford another letdown against the Browns this weekend.

Next: Steelers Tomlin Tuesday

"“This is a game that has a lot of implications in it for us. We can’t drop an egg. Cleveland’s going to do everything they can to make sure that we don’t play our game. And that’s the most important thing for us is playing our game. We can’t play down to anybody or think they’re going to let us win.” – Ramon Foster"

The Steelers will need to not only take care of business against the Browns but they’ll need to do some scoreboard watching and hope the Bills can do them a solid and take care of the Jets for them.
