The Pittsburgh Steelers took the field against the Buccaneers on Friday night. Here are my winners and losers from their first preseason action of the year.

The Steelers made some excited plays in Friday night’s preseason game, despite missing most of their starters. While there was a lot of good to note from their first preseason game, there were also players who didn’t exactly shine in the spotlight.

It was the first NFL action of the year for Pittsburgh, so we shouldn’t draw too much from it, but here are my winners and losers from Friday night’s game against the Buccaneers:

Winners:

Devin Bush

If you weren’t a fan of picking Devin Bush 10th overall, you are now. Bush exceeded expectations in his first preseason action, and he could be seen making plays in both the run and in coverage. He was probably the biggest winner on either side of the ball, and stands to be an X-factor for Pittsburgh moving forward. He led all players with 10 total tackles.

James Washington

Washington absolutely looked the part for the Steelers Friday night. He found ways to come down with the ball, as he finished with 4 catches on 5 targets for 81 yards and a touchdown (21.0 ypr). He had a good preseason last year as well, but he still needs to prove himself when it matters. However, it was a giant leap in the right direction.
