Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are probably “Tanking for Tua.” Who is to say they wouldn’t be interested in further creating damage to their roster and doing exactly what their goal is to do?

If the Dolphins want to auction off more of their pass rushers to stockpile more draft picks, they will have to replace them as well. They could very well trade for Dupree as a replacement and send off a late-round pick to the Steelers.

Dupree would then be in a position to be a little bright spot on a terrible roster. If he performs well under these circumstances, he could find himself getting a fair deal to return or on the open market.

The Dolphins currently sit among the lowest in total sacks with 4 recorded through three weeks. Dupree would probably be able to play freely and pass rush most of the time since, let’s be honest, the Dolphins are already thinking of the 2020 NFL draft.

Financially, Miami has $29 Million in cap room per Over the Cap. Absorbing this contract would not be an issue. I don’t think any move with Miami is out the question with their willingness to auction of players at will.

One thing to note is that this is a very slim trade–as is trading Dupree away in general. Plus, I don’t think Colbert and company would put Dupree in this position unless all camps agreed it would be a situation where he could just play how he wants to audition for a deal in the 2020 free agency.
