While the Pittsburgh Steelers are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, which member of the New York Giants would make the Steelers better?
There are a few good options. But if we could place one player from the New York Giants onto the Pittsburgh Steelers, it would have to be Saquon Barkley. He is going into the 3rd year of his rookie contract and he is the best running back in the league other than Christain McCaffrey. Furthermore, if the offensive line improves for the Giants, this season, he will more than likely take the throne.
Per NFL.com, Saquon Barkley has already totaled over 2,300 yards rushing and 1,100 yards receiving in just two seasons. He has already scored 23 touchdowns and that was in just 29 games. Even though his yards per carry average went down from 5 in 2018 to 4.6 in 2019, he raised his average yards per catch from 7.9 in 2018 to 8.4 in 2019. With an offensive line taking a step back, a rookie quarterback taking over, and a receiving core filled with injuries Barkley managed to improve his game as a pass-catcher in year 2.
While the Steelers have invested in the run game coming into this season, Ben is back and that means we can expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to start throwing the ball a lot more this season. With Barkley having improved his receiving skills he would still fit right in with the Steelers offense no matter what the game plan would be and who they would be facing.
James Conner has been seen as a question mark with his injury history and even when they are both healthy it would be hard to take a player as talented as Barkley off the field. With all of this being said, there is no reason to think that without Saquon the Steelers won’t be a smash in 2020.
