Roethlisberger’s return from injury

While Ben Roethlisberger’s recovery from his elbow injury has been promising, fans need to temper their early expectations. Big Ben appears better than ever, but he is still coming off major surgery and has yet to be in any sort of a game since about this time last year. I’m saying he won’t come back to where he was before, but he may need some time to strengthen his arm and get back in his groove.

Luckily, the Giants secondary appears suspect – meaning Roethlisberger may be able to carve the opposing defense up with efficiency. On the flip side though, he has a relatively new offensive line in front of him. If this unit doesn’t gel properly and Roethlisberger is getting hit too often, that could further throw him out of his zone. Roethlisberger needs a strong game week one to show himself and everyone else that he does in fact still have it.

Given his previous injury and the fact his offense is changed from last year, Roethlisberger enters week one with quite a few questions he must answer. That isn’t to say he will fall on his face, but he may struggle more than fans expect. If Roethlisberger can’t get it together in week one, it may lead to a surprising loss.
