How can the Steelers make this happen?

It may be worth noting that Vince Williams himself is counting for 7 million against the cap. If the Pittsburgh Steelers were to move off of Williams in time, they would be well on their way to being able to afford an all-pro to pair with top 10 pick Devin Bush for the next 3 seasons. If they chose to extend Ben’s contract, released Vance Macdonald, and restructured Joe Haden’s and/or Stephon Tuitt’s contracts they may be able to afford Kendricks for the long run.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have multiple players with contracts getting ready to expire and they are already on the verge of losing Bud Dupree. Dupree has been playing like a new man in 2019 and 2020, odds are that Pittsburgh won’t be able to afford the tag on him again next season. However, they still have Alex Highsmith as Bud Dupree’s successor. If replacing Bud Dupree with Alex Highsmith gives the Steelers a chance to keep a player of Eric Kendricks’ caliber it is well worth it.

JuJu might even be out of Pittsburgh’s reach with the salary cap likely going down. But the Steelers are all in on the current season. They also tend to be able to get their players to settle for restructuring their contracts to make cap. With Dupree likely gone, being able to have an all-pro linebacker locked down for another 3 years and possibly beyond, with an extension and restructuring, would be a huge help for the future as well.

With 2019 being the exception, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not really known for blockbuster trades like this one. However, this move could seal the deal for a team within reach of a championship. This trade would definitely, make the Steelers an even greater defensive juggernaut than they already are.
