The Pittsburgh Steelers have a few injuries but nothing that should prevent them from pulling off a win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The Steelers have a few injuries heading into Sunday’s game but they are nothing to worry about. Marcus Allen has a foot injury and he will likely be replaced by Ulysees Gilbert in the lineup. There is also fullback, Derek Watt, who is designated as out for the game. He has a hamstring injury.

The Steelers aren’t missing any regular starters for this game. Sure, Derek Watt is their starting fullback but he doesn’t even get on the field half the time when healthy. Overall, things look pretty good. Here’s a breakdown of their current injuries:

Marcus Allen (foot) Out

Marcus Allen is out with a foot injury and that will be okay for the Steelers. He is not a starter and he does not play an irreplaceable role on special teams. The Black and Gold will be okay without him. The hope is that he will be able to play in future weeks as the season goes on and depth becomes more important.

Derek Watt (hamstring) Out

Derek Watt is going to be out and he will be missed in short-yardage running situations. He also is a contributor on special teams. I expect Zach Gentry to dress for the Steelers and be the third tight end. I think you will see more 12-personnel on running downs.

Conclusion

The Steelers do have two injuries, but they get their important players ready for the game on Sunday. Guys like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, and T.J. Watt will play on Sunday for the Pittsburgh.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are going to be shorthanded on Sunday. After losing players like Jason Peters, Andre Dillard, and Dallas Goedert to IR, they also have three offensive starters out against the Steelers. Wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson will both miss the game, as well as starting cornerback Avonte Maddox. Philadelphia’s injuries far outweigh Pittsburgh’s in this contest.

I like where the Steelers are from an injury standpoint, even if it isn’t perfect. I expect guys like Marcus Allen and Derek Watt to heal and become contributors down the road.
