Lynn Swann

Lynn Swann is surprisingly only number 4 on this list. He is a 4-time Super Bowl champion, 3-time pro-bowler, and a former 1st team All-Pro. In his era, he would be one of the greatest wide receivers ever. Yet with such amazing talent developing at his position he, unfortunately, fell down to the 4th spot on the list.

He is 5th all-time in franchise history among Wr’s in receiving yards, 5th in catches, and 4th in receiving touchdowns. He played his entire career as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a part of possibly the greatest dynasty in NFL history. He was famed for having grace with the way he played. He would credit his background in ballet for his rather awe-inspiring aerial skills.  He almost floated in the air while attacking the ball with his hands.

With the Steelers relying on incredibly defense, and a rather run-first philosophy, even with the blonde bomber at the helm of the offense Swann would be 1/2 of one of the greatest receiving tandems in league history. There was nothing he and his partner in crime could not accomplish on the field in an era where physicality was paramount. I would have loved to put him higher, and if he was involved in more of a pass-heavy offense he may have had the statistical output to be placed higher.

He will forever be a legend of the franchise as a cornerstone piece to one of the greatest teams the NFL has seen, or will ever see again. That in and of itself will keep him on this list for a long time.
